Newcastle hosts annual quadrangular bowls tournament

Newcastle Bowling Club hosts the KwaZulu-Natal Men’s Quadrangular, welcoming 128 bowlers for high-quality competition.

Newcastle Bowling Club had the honor of hosting the annual KwaZulu-Natal Men’s Quadrangular bowls tournament on Saturday, January 24.

Months of preparation by the club committee and the members saw the club & surrounds in perfect condition and ready to welcome the 128 bowlers from the four bowling districts in KZN.

Each district fielded teams in the Open A, Open B, Veteran and Presidents divisions.

Playing in extremely hot conditions the standard of play was excellent with the visiting players, all complimenting on the well prepared surfaces.

Congratulations to the following teams:

  1. Port Natal (Durban & surrounds) – won overall – 106.5 points
  2. KZNCB – 69 points
  3. Natal Inland (Pmb & surrounds) – 61 points
  4. Kingfisher (Lower South Coast) – 51.5 points

Dundee Bowling Club

Dundee Bowling Club hosted the Ladies Quadrangular tournament:

  1. Kingfisher Ladies – 92.5 points
  2. Port Natal – 90 points
  3. Natal Inland – 70.5 points
  4. KZNCB – 35 points

The AME Summer Business League gets under way next week and businesses still keen on entering are reminded to enter as soon as possible.
