A match with a great story behind it
The main scenario match involved Allied soldiers attacking a small unit of German soldiers transporting valuable art which had been looted by the Nazis

The Ladysmith Paintball Team was in action at Why Waste recently. They played a few ‘capture the flag’ matches in addition to the main scenario match, which involved Allied soldiers attacking a small unit of German soldiers transporting valuable art which had been looted by the Nazis.
A great true story underscores the match that was played… During World War II, a team of soldiers was charged with identifying and protecting European cultural sites and fine arts. This US Army unit included art curators, scholars, architects, librarians and archivists from America and Great Britain. They quickly became known as “The Monuments Men”.
Towards the end of the war, their mission changed to one of locating and recovering works of art that had been stolen by the Nazis. The Monuments Men uncovered troves of stolen art hidden across Germany and Austria – some in castles and others in salt mines. In doing so, they rescued some of history’s greatest works of art.
The paintball team would like to convey a big word of thanks to the management of Why Waste for the use of their premises.
It was lots of fun, with a very educational and fascinating story behind all the ducking, diving and stinging paint that goes into one of these matches.
