Surf’s up for local anglers
This season, the ante is upped by new affiliates, Dannhauser and Ladysmith angling clubs.
The Angling Professional League (APL) is all systems go for another exciting season.
After a short break from the icy winter, the angling scene will resurface at Sandford on August 21, for opening encounter, League 1.

This season, the ante is upped by new affiliates, Dannhauser and Ladysmith angling clubs.
Dannhauser Angling Club enjoyed many seasons under the Natal Fresh Water Angling Association (NFWAA), and has decided to cast its lot with the APL.
On the other hand, Ladysmith Angling Club wants to make its new presence felt.
Including a number of seasoned anglers from Breakwaters, Stillwaters and Challengers, this team has a thirst for victory, and is envisioned as a formidable force.

The APL now boasts five clubs, and is set for a season full of action and intense rivalry.
As before, the angler of the day dons the orange cap and walks away with the outright trophy and R200 in cash.
The overall leader has the honour of wearing the purple cap.
In addition to R500 for the winning club of the day, various other incentives have made this season quite lucrative.
The top three anglers for the season each receive tackle vouchers valued at R3 000 downward.
For those not familiar with the APL, titles up for grabs include the heaviest scaled and non scaled fish, plus crowns for junior, female, senior and overall anglers who triumph.
Breakwaters and Stillwaters have already got a start to the season.
The clubs hosted the combined Champion of Champion, with the first round on August 7 claimed by Jannie Els on eight points, followed by Wayne Oosthuizen (eight points) and Anil Boodhoo (five points).
Ruan Nysschen and Whitey Maharaj rounded off the top five.
