Golfers enjoy a day of great fellowship at NG Kerk Golf Day
his coming Friday evening, May 26, the club will be having a "Steak Evening" (eat as much as you like) at only R120 per person.
Almost 50 players enjoyed a wonderful day of golf and fellowship on Saturday while participating in the NG Kerk Golf Day at Dundee Country Club. The golfers were not only spoilt by the lovely warm weather but were treated by the organisers to a halfway lunch as well as a braai after prize giving.
There was a tight finish to the Better Ball Scramble competition with three teams recording a low net score of 62, and winning the count out to claim first prize were the Von Mollendorff sister of Sonel and Lindi. Second place went to the pairing of Cyril Mkhwanazi and Jo Khumalo while Lionel Shawe and his partner Billy Francis took home the third prize.
The novelty prizes for nearest the pin on the short par 3’s went to: Mason Meyer on the 4th, Lionel Shawe on the 12th and Cyril Mkhwanazi on the 16th hole. Sonel Von Mollendorff claimed the prize for closest for two on the par four 18th hole when she holed out her second shot for an eagle two.

Sunday saw the opening round of the N. KZN Men’s golf league fixtures being played in Newcastle.
Dundee’s ‘B1’ team of Mandla Mthethwa, Clement Chawanda, Clement Sithole and Aaron Mbatha held on to draw their game 6-6 against Glencoe. The ‘B2″ team of Barry Sandy, Rob Streak, Wynand Ackerman and Kevin Donaldson were up against last year’s league winners Vryheid, and thanks to some excellent golf by both Kevin and Wynand also managed to hold Vryheid to a 6-6 draw.
