Most frequent golfer Debbie takes ladies honours and Dr Sifiso the men’s mug

Saturday's golf competition will be a 4 BBBS event with the Under 45's up against the Over 45's, so players are urged to find a partner in their respective age division

Following three weeks of very mediocre participation by golfers in the Saturday club competitions at Dundee Country Club it was very pleasing to see almost 40 players taking part in the July Monthly Mug Medal competition on Saturday.
The day belonged to our “most frequent golfer” Debbie Catlett, who shot an excellent 79 off her 15 handicap to easily win the Ladies B division Mug on a net 64.
The Men’s A Division was a lot closer affair as Sifiso Kunene just managed to hold off three other players, Brian du Toit, Billy Francis and Willie Maritz, by a single shot to win his division on a net 68.
Mandla Mthethwa was a comfortable winner of the Men’s B Division Mug when finishing on a net 66.
The prize for the best gross score recorded for the competition went to another one of Dundee’s up-and-coming junior golfers, Richardt Albertse, who shot a one under par round of 70. Five players were fortunate enough to score eleven or more points on the nominated Jackpot holes to each have a share of the prize money. They were: W Maritz, K Donaldson, B Meyer, M Mthethwa and M Bradbury.
There were also five players who managed to record a 2 Club: J Khumalo on the 4th, R Albertse, D Catlett and S Kunene all at the 12th and L Wellman on the 16th hole.
Darts final
The finals of the first social darts competition took place last Wednesday evening, which saw fierce competition from the minnows in the knock out stages of the competition. The favourites, team Scania and The Pink Panthers were knocked out and had to compete for The Stone, which went The Pink Panther team of Greg Connoly and Jacques Bierbaum. The Ackers, Wynand and his wife, Mariza, beat the Monte Royale team of Helen and Susan in the final to be crowned champions of our first darts competition. The individual Top Score of the evening went to Susan Smith who threw 137.
This coming Friday evening, members and friends are welcome to come and try Jenny’s speciality pig head with chips and salad for R30 per person and there will also be specials available from the bar.
Saturday’s golf competition will be a 4 BBBS event with the Under 45’s up against the Over 45’s, so players are urged to find a partner in their respective age division and contact The Pro Shop on 034 218 1000 to enter.
