Golfers enjoy a magnificent three!
Winning the count-out and walking away with a double door fridge was our local “cycling golfer” Petros Mhlungu.
Over this past weekend, Dundee Country Club was fortunate to host two major golf days, the D.C.C. Coal Mining Day on Friday and then the Doctors Golf Day on Saturday, which saw over 150 rounds of golf being played and many “cold” beverages being consumed. The clubs “coffers” were substantially boosted by not only our local golfers but also from a large number of players visiting Dundee for the weekend.
Team Eickoff were the winners in Friday’s American Scramble competition, finishing on a very low net score of 50. Second place went to the Gilbert Mining team with a net score of 55, while Amadambi Transport, Blackwattle Colliery and EVO Lubricants all finished with a net score of 56 to complete the Top 5 places in a field of 17 teams.
The novelty prizes for nearest the pin on the short holes went to: C Mkhwanazi on the 4th, H Bolton on the 8th, J Zulu on the 12th and R Grobler on the 16th hole.
Saturday’s Doctors Golf Day was an I.P.S. event which saw all 20 prizes going to players finishing their round better than their handicap allowance with three players scoring 42 individual points. Winning the count-out and walking away with a double door fridge was our local “cycling golfer” Petros Mhlungu. Robert Khumalo finished second to win himself a brand new washing machine while Walter Du Plessis took home a large micro-wave for coming third.

The nearest the pin prizes went to: D Sadaw on the 4th, C Mkhwanazi on the 8th, B Chiwaya on the 12th and Z Ntshangase on the 16th hole. The prize for closest to the flag for two on the 18th hole was won by J Dlamini, and W Ackerman won the prize for the longest drive.
This coming Sunday, August 20 sees three of our league teams in action. The “A” team and the Frog team travel to Vryheid while the “B2” team are up against Glencoe at Kilbarchan G.C.
Saturday’s club competition will be an I.P.S. and players are requested to contact The Pro Shop to enter. All D.C.C. members are to please note that there is a special meeting on Wednesday, August 23 at 6pm to discuss the items which are listed on the Agenda posted on the notice board at the club.
