Local golfer Louis wins Mpumalanga Open

An outstanding six under par 278, with rounds of 69-68-72-69, by Dundee’s Louis Albertse Jnr saw him win the Mpumalanga Open played at Mbombela Golf Club over the past weekend.
This was Louis second open victory for the season and has moved him up to 15th place on the SAGA Order of Merit rankings, the committee and members of Dundee Country Club is extremely proud to have Louis, and his younger brother, Rigardt, who is also performing well on the circuit, as great golfing ambassadors for the club.
Saturday’s Hinterland Sponsored Golf Day was very well supported and attracted a large field of 84 golfers to the club.
Winning the 4 BBBS competition was the pairing of Lorien De Wit and Nico Rose with 47 points. M Adam and M Abdulla finished in second place with 46 points with Brian Du Toit and Barry Sandy coming in third place on 45 points.
The prizes for nearest the pin on the short holes went to Kevin Donaldson on the 4th and Ronel Purchase on the 16th hole. L Adam picked up the prize for the longest drive on the 18th hole.
Golfers, together with their families and friends enjoyed the evening with a live performance by local SA singer, Jay and partied late into the night.
Sunday’s NKZN Men’s local league matches were played at Dundee CC and the A team was unfortunately out played by Newcastle and went down 2-10 with only Walter Du Plessis and Aaron Mbatha halving their singles matches to earn the two points. In the B division, the ‘B1’ and ‘B2’ teams played against each other in a tightly contested game and the final result was a 6-6 draw.
This coming Saturday September 9, sees the Glencoe Primary School hosting their fund raising golf day and the format will also be a 4 BBBS, so players are requested to contact The Pro Shop on 034 218 1000 to make their bookings.
