Chilly start to 20-team strong bowls league

The SA Record for continuous bowls challenge is edging closer!

This past Thursday evening saw the much-anticipated start of the bowls business league. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t play along however a great evening was had by all!
The club thanks Kirkland Auctioneers who have agreed to sponsor this edition of the league. Twenty teams have entered the league and the leaderboard, after the first round, is as follows:
Section 1: Rabco 4 +14. BB Transport 4 +12 and Komzani 4 +12.
Section 2: Liquorice Allsorts 4 + 20, Dabmar 4 +17 and Buffalo Coal 4 + 9.
Teams have been broken down into two sections which means that after the round robin is complete, the top team from section 1 will play the top team from section 2 to establish the overall winner and runners-up. Join us on Thursday from 5.45pm for more bowling fun.
Northern Zone Senior Singles Tournament
The past weekend saw the Northern Zone Senior Singles Tournament being played in Vryheid.
Well done to Essie Slabbert and Sylvia Malan, on their participation. Sylvia won the ladies section and John Douthwaite from Newcastle won the men’s section.
Congratulations Sylvia on your win and thank you, Essie and Sylvia, for flying the club’s name high.
Excitement is building as the Friedmann Tournament is only three weeks away with preparations and finishing touches well under way. 168 players are expected here, so please, a call to all members as this is seen as the club’s biggest Annual Tournament. Please volunteer your help where you can.
