Swanepoel clinches Dundee Golf Open in terrible conditions
Newcastle's Neil Swanepoel who shot rounds of 73 and 77 for a total of 150, in the very strong windy conditions, to be crowned 2017 Open Champion.
Over this past weekend, a number of golfers at Dundee Country Club were spoilt by winning some great prizes in both the SPCA Charity Golf Day on Saturday and again on Sunday in the Dundee 36 Hole Open sponsored by Charlies SuperSpar.
On Sunday’s Dundee Open over 36 holes attracted a number of golfers from both Ladysmith and Newcastle, and it was Newcastle’s Neil Swanepoel who shot rounds of 73 and 77 for a total of 150, in the very strong windy conditions, to be crowned 2017 Open Champion.
The prize for the lowest net score went to Mark Nero from Glencoe GC who finished on 142.
The B division, for players with handicaps 10 -18, was won by Z Dlamini playing out of Ladysmith CC with a gross score of 160, while Dundee’s own Lorein De Wit was the best of the ladies with a gross score of 166 for the 36 hole tournament.
The Friday afternoon 10 hole Meat competition was won by Mel Janse Van Rensburg on 19 individual points and second place went to Shepherd Nzena on 18 points.
Members are once again reminded that Dundee CC will be hosting the KZN Ladies Inter Club next weekend from Thursday, October 26 to Saturday, October 28, and the club will be closed to everyone except those involved in the organisation of this event.
