Editor's note

Suicide is not painless for those left behind

Never reach the end of your rope without talking it out...

Let’s be blunt, Ladysmith has been hit by what can only be described as a suicide pandemic. Each and every day, we are assailed with more self-inflicted grief.

From hangings to guns, from Rattex to car fires, the spate of suicides is unprecedented in this town’s history. This is not counting the failed attempts and cover-ups.

I do not know when it became acceptable or even excusable to view suicide as a legitimate option?

What must be going through a person’s mind that the only option they have is to kill themselves? To take the precious gift God gave them and end it?

Now I am not going to talk about religion, but it is universally accepted that almost all religions view suicide in a bad light. So what am I trying to say?

No matter how bad it is, talk to someone.
