TECH: Six reasons why the PS3 is superior to the PS4
Are you considering getting the PlayStation4? Read this and see why the PS3 is better...

The contemporary consoles have been around for a while now and are still creating a name of themselves.
Yet, the biggest problem faced by avid gamers is the current consoles are far from perfect and are being outplayed by their “outdated” forerunners.
Two such examples are the PlayStation4 and Xbox One, which are not where they should be in regards to functionality and features.
So, before pawning off your trusted PlayStation3 and acquiring the newer PlayStation4, here are six reasons why you shouldn’t:
1. Backwards compatibility
Neither the Xbox One and PS 4 have the ability to play games from their predecessors or games from older consoles.
However, Microsoft announced last year that it would be implementing backwards compatibility with the Xbox One for Xbox 360 games, with a possibility for the original Xbox games as well.
Sony, meanwhile, has offered a stream service and modification of select PS2 games for the PS4.
But is this enough? As the PS3 allows gamers the opportunity to play a variety of games from both the PS1 and PS2 eras.
2. PlayStation 3 backwards compatibility
Most avid gamers have built up a library of their favourite games, and as the PS4 doesn’t allow playback of PS3 games, this causes an inconvenience, as one requires two different Sony consoles under their TV to play games.
The PS3 has an awesome range of exclusive titles, and while some of these have been ported over to the PS4, why should people buy the games again? Maybe Sony should have built the PS4 with PS3 games in mind…
3. The Blu-ray player
While looking at the PS3 strengths over that of the PS4, the PS3 had one of the strongest Blu-ray players on the market.
With the ability to play back 3D Blu-ray titles before the PS4 was able to, it is still considered one of the best Blu-ray players around.
4. Online play is free
Another benefit of the PS3 is that it allowed players to play online for free, unlike the Xbox360 which required a Microsoft Gold Account.
Honestly speaking, who doesn’t like free stuff?
5. New releases
Big titles are still being released on the PS3, albeit this won’t continue forever, and are cheaper than the PS4 games.
6. It can play music CDs
Despite all its power, the PS4 cannot play music CDs for some odd reason, whereas the PS3 allows you the opportunity to chill with your favourite music CDs.
Although keeping up with technology can be beneficial, why should we turn our back on the trusted PS3, which still serves us so well?
