#WackyWednesday: Strangest destinations to visit this October
Planning to travel to far off destinations this month? Be sure to visit one of these five spooky destinations for Halloween.
Superstitious people have much to look forward to during the month of October, with Halloween lurking around the corner.
As October promises to share its fair deal of sinister events for horror fans, be sure to broaden your horizons and visit one of the five following creepy destinations.
1. Hoia Baciu Forest, Romania

While a walk in a forest might seem romantic to some, this is one forest to be entered with caution.
Known as the Bermuda Triangle of Romania, the forest has a reputation for spooky and unexplained events.
Not only have multiple people gone missing in Hoia Baciu Forest, but there have also been reports of ghosts, unexplained apparitions, faces appearing in photographs that were not visible with the naked eye, and UFO sightings.
Visitors have claimed to have felt intense anxiety and the feeling of being constantly watched. If you are brave enough, this is the place to camp.
2. The Catacombs, Paris

If you are a fan of horror movies and novels, this is the place to visit. The Catacombs of Paris are underground ossuaries, where approximately six million people were buried.
The rather grotesque burial site was established in the 1700s, and remained largely forgotten for several years. In the 19th Century, it became a novelty-place for concerts and other private events.
The catacombs was opened for public visitation from 1874.
3. The Door to Hell, Turkmenistan

The Darvaza gas crater, aka The Doors to Hell, is a natural gas field in Turkmenstein that collapsed into an underground cavern, becoming a natural gas crater.
While this in itself is not remarkable, what makes the Doors to Hell special is that geologists set it on fire in 1971, to prevent the spread of methane gas.
Instead of the fire merely dying out after a few days, the crater has been burning ever since.
4. Leap Castle, Ireland

Built between the 13th and 14th century, Leap Castle is classified as the most haunted place in Ireland due to its horrific history.
According to legend, one of the most infamous killings that took place occurred when the castle’s owners, the O’Carrolls, employed about 40 members of the northern McMahon clan to train them in methods of warfare.
When the O’Carrols defeated a rival clan, they invited the McMahon men to a feast. However, the McMahon’s were unaware that their employers had poisoned their food as a means to avoid making payment for the services.
The ghosts of the McMahon clan are said to haunt Leap Castle to this day. There is also apparently a ghostly priest and an elemental spirit haunting the premises.
5. Island of the Dolls, Mexico

The Island of Dolls is a rather eerie place to visit, to say the least.
According to legend, a young girl died in the canals surrounding the island. Shortly after her demise, dolls started to wash ashore on a constant basis.
The island’s only inhabitant and caretaker, then began to hang the dolls up in memory of the little girl.
