An amazing time running The Amazing Race

Teams raced around the CBD, solving clues and finding historical locations, all in a bid to win

It definitely was amazing as teams raced around the CBD, solving clues and finding historical locations, all in a bid to win the first ever Amazing Race Against Time.

Hosted by the Tourism Office as a pre-cursor to Talana Live, the event saw 10 teams take on the challenge.

Teams first had to find the Masonic Lodge and take a photo of the plaque, before rushing off to the Mews where they had to find an 18th-century recipe.

They then had to make their way to the Anglican Church where they had to answer two questions relating to the Battle of Talana before finding the place where Gandhi was first sentenced in Dundee.

It was then back to the Tourism Office where they had to find the Orange Grove Dairy picture located on the Tourism Office windows before finishing the race at the Municipal Pool.

It was a tough fought battle but in the end, Sibongokonke Zikhali and Cebo Kubheka finished first ahead of Thabani Mnisi and Asanda Mahlaba and Verrushka and O’Niel Naicker.

Tourism’s Kajal Deepchund thanked the volunteers for assisting on the day and the teams for participating in the race, describing it as a successful event.

There were no eliminations in this version of the race, so thankfully for teams, they didn’t have to hear those dreaded words, ‘I’m sorry to tell you, you’re the last team to arrive.’
