Vryheid motorist shares video of overturned truck near Scheepersnek turnoff

What's the hold up on the Dundee road near the Scheepersnek turn off? Check out this video sent in by one of our readers to see what caused the delay in traffic.

EARLIER today, a traffic warning was sent out to motorists travelling near the Scheepersnek turnoff after a truck overturned and came to rest across the width of the road towards Dundee.

The warning shared on our Instagram page earlier today.

Vryheid Herald reader, Wynand Harmse, was driving past and managed to capture some footage of the truck’s effect on traffic, which came to a crawl as the authorities took control of the hazardous scene.

The truck, which was loaded with maize at the time of the incident, is believed to have swerved and rolled after what may have been an overtaking attempt by another smaller vehicle, which also overturned.

The driver of the truck sustained injuries to his head, back and neck and emergency services had to break open the cab to free him from the truck while waiting for the jaws of life to arrive. The fire brigade and disaster management were also at the scene.
