Ten Ways to beat the winter in Dundee

Winter is here - here's how you can beat it

The weather sages say because of the late rains, this will be an extra chilly winter in Northern KZN.

Thankfully there are many ways you can beat the winter chill, so don’t stress.

All you need is a little creativity and some cash and you can easily survive the cold with these ten tips.

1. Attend a council meeting at the municipality. The heated exchanges between councillors and the fiery atmosphere are sure to warm you up on even the coldest day.

2.  To beat the cold you may need a heater or an electric blanket, but these appliances take a lot of electricity. Do not be naughty and by-pass your meter box. Power theft is already costing the municipality millions of Rands a year.

3. Have a party at Coronation Park. With the braais ongoing and alcohol flowing, a Coronation Park party is a must. If you can’t afford to have your own, just join one of the parties already taking place every weekend and on public holidays too.

4. Grab a samoosa. There are so many take away shops here there is bound to be one that serves up one to burn the cold away.

5. Park on the pavement. It can be interesting when people start shouting at you.  Sometimes they chase you then you can get warm by running away. Sometimes they join you by also parking on the pavement.

6. Cuddle with someone you love, body warmth is the best way to beat the cold.

7. Start a fire on a street corner. The ladies of the night are proficient in this, and they never seem to get in trouble. So why not light a fire on a street corner? Just burn a tyre or even rubbish you pulled out from a nearby bin and you’re guaranteed to be warm.

8. Grab a soup at the Guinea Fowl Coffee Shop.  Pieter may not want to divulge the recipe but there’s guaranteed to be a lot of love in the soup. Just a sip will warm your heart and soul and make you forget about all the other problems in Dundee.

9. Join Joe and Bongani and the BBAC athletes and go for a jog – you will be warm and make new friends..

10. Protest outside the municipality. There’s no better way to warm up than engaging in protest action. The dance moves required to toitoi will get the blood pumping, thereby keeping you warm and if you’re lucky, the police will shoot you with rubber bullets. That stinging pain will make you forget all about your winter woes.
