DUNDEE: Squash players shrug off lockdown blues

Squash players are already gearing up for their next league

Squash players have been back in action thanks to the Buffalo Coal Squash League, after more than six months off the courts.

Due to Covid-19 regulations and all the other hiccups of the year, the club could only conclude their first squash league of the year.

Thanks to Buffalo Coal for their generous sponsorship of lovely prizes. The winners were as follows: Fourth: Team 9 – Weon du Plooy (captain), Nozipho Hadebe, Martinique Vlok, Hamish Grierson and Feeney. Third: Team 1 – Walter du Plessis (captain), Ashvir Mughoo, Natasha du Plessis, Klaas de Jager and Belinda Loyd. Second: Team 7 – Kevern Mattison, Andre Labuschagne, Phillip Vlok (captain), Magda Corbitt and Gavin Tuting. First: Team 6 – Rudi Dorfling, Eugene Corbitt (captain), Jacques Corbitt, Ben Strydom and Eugene Corbitt Jnr.

The club thanks Dolf Redelinghuys from BST (Belt Systems Technologies) and Ismael’s Trading store for sponsoring the club with foot-operated hand sanitizing stations. A new league has started, sponsored by OK Value.

This will serve as a “GET FIT LEAGUE” to help prepare for the championships that will start at the end of November / beginning of December.

This league is only open to members and we have 42 players in this league. If you would like to become a squash member, please contact any of the committee members (R700 per annum, R150 for existing DCC members, R165 for juniors).
