Share hope, love, and smiles at the Epilepsy Centre this festive season

Christmas is a time of togetherness, but for many of these residents without family support, it can be a lonely season.

As the festive season approaches, Epilepsy South Africa’s Free State & North West Branch is calling on the Parys community to help bring joy, warmth, and celebration to the 48 residents who call this Centre home.

For decades, the centre has provided holistic care to individuals living with epilepsy and secondary disabilities —offering accommodation, meals, healthcare assistance, skills development, and emotional support. For many residents, the centre is not just a facility; it is family, stability, and belonging.

This December, the centre is inviting individuals, families, schools, churches, businesses, and community groups to join hands in ensuring that every resident experiences the joy of the season.

Ways to get involved

  • Adopt-a-Resident for Christmas: Share a small gift, care pack, or personalised message.
  • Donate festive treats such as biscuits, soft drinks, sweets, or other delights.
  • Sponsor a Christmas Lunch item
  • Entertainment or activities: Choirs, musicians, youth groups, and volunteers are welcome to perform or host activities at the centre.
  • Contribute financially: Donations support ongoing programmes and quality care at the centre.
  • Spend time with us: Sometimes the greatest gift is presence — a smile, a conversation, or a shared moment.
  • Together we can make this season bright. “Christmas is a time of togetherness, but for many of these residents without family support, it can be a lonely season. With the support of the Parys community, we can ensure that every resident feels seen, valued, and celebrated.
The centre thrives through community involvement, and even the smallest gesture has the power to transform lives.
  • If you can contribute in any way, please contact the centre on (056) 811 5959.
