Silver at Free State Masters Champs

 

 

On Saturday, 31 October, the Mangaung Stadium in Bloemfontein opened the track to athletes from all provinces to partici-pate in the Athletics Free State Masters Track and Field Championships. Pierre Fourie (M40) spiked up to compete in both the 100 m and 200 m sprint distances.

Both items were run in two heats with the results then combined to produce the final results. Pierre achieved a silver medal and qualified for Free State colours in the 100 m sprint with a time of 12.60 seconds. He also brought home a silver medal in the 200 m sprint with a time of 26.44 seconds. The gold medals in both 100 m (12.31 seconds) and 200 m (25.83 seconds) were awarded to SA Masters bronze medallist, Eustice Lemmetjies.

Pierre will continue to compete for a position at the SAMA National Champs, presented as a virtual event by KZN Athletics 1–14 November 2021.
