Parys SPCA is losing its inspector and office manager.
Insp. Neil Visser and his wife, Denize, are relocating to the Wellington SPCA in the Western Cape to take up new challenges, where their expertise and knowledge will be put into effect from 20 February 2016.
They will be sorely missed as their dedication and passion for animals has gone way beyond the call of duty.
Parys is a very small town with a multitude of animals, and a force of retired skilled folk who have talents – we need you.
Parys SPCA membership has fallen from 34 paid up members in 2015, to 6 at the start of 2016, and the SPCA therefore appeals to all members of the public to become members and contribute to this charity. In this way, the animals can be housed for a longer period; have a better chance of being homed; and are well looked after by ridding them of ticks, fleas, and disease.
This is your SPCA and only you can help it. We have one fundraiser and the Charity Shop opposite Pick ’n Pay.
While Ngwathe Local Municipality does provide some funding to Parys SPCA for the performance of services as a small municipal pound, this is nowhere near enough and there are much-needed necessities required on a daily basis to keep the kennels running hygienically, and to keep animals well fed.
Maintenance and repairs are ongoing so the SPCA welcome anyone with a talent for painting, and plumbers and electricians that would be willing to do this on a charity basis.
As a fundraiser, I am more than willing to help raise funds for any task that could be too expensive or too complicated where experts need to be called in. For a small annual fee, you can be a paid-up member with a say in the management of the society and witness the credibility of our organisation, and be able to offer tips, advice and suggestions.
Current annual membership fees are as follows: •Corporate: R200
•Life member: R200 •Ordinary member R60 •Junior member R30
Membership applications forms are available at the SPCA kennels by calling 056 811 3671, or from June Britten (fundraiser) on 073 116 9085. For every membership paid you will receive a car sticker quoting ‘I SUPPORT THE SPCA – DO YOU? Voluntary monetary donations can be made to the SPCA Parys bank account at Standard Bank, Parys; Account No. 040947882; Branch code 055736.
