Heatwave with high fire danger conditions to hit Free State, North West this weekend

Stay indoors and stay hydrated.

A Heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected for the Free State and parts of the North West from Saturday November 2nd until Monday November 4th.

The temperature for Parys on Saturday is expected to reach 34°C and 35°C on Sunday. Temperatures are only expected to drop from Wednesday November 6th.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected for both Free State and North West

The North West Umbrella Fire Protection Association (NWUFPA) has sent out a fire danger warning for this weekend.

All burning activities are strictly prohibited: do not use grinders, cutting torches and similar equipment in the open; do not use cutters, scrapers or work with any tools likely to cause sparks and do not make any fires in the open.

Make sure the embers of your braai fire are extinguished.

Report any signs of fire to authorities without delay.
