LGV establishes specialized diving unit to boost emergency response

With this development, LGV Protection and Security Services sets a new benchmark in community-focused emergency response and readiness.

In a significant step toward enhancing disaster response and rescue operations, LGV Protection and Security Services has officially launched a specialised diving unit on March 29. The inauguration ceremony took place at Wondergat, a well-known diving spot near Lichtenburg in the Northwest province with senior officials, dignitaries, and local divers in attendance.

The newly established unit is designed to provide rapid underwater search and rescue services during floods, water-related accidents, and natural disasters.

Equipped with advanced diving gear and trained in underwater navigation and recovery, the team is expected to play a crucial role in reducing response times and saving lives during emergencies.

“The formation of this diving unit reflects our commitment to strengthening our preparedness and ensuring public safety,” said Wessie Wessels, who spearheaded the initiative.

“Our personnel have undergone intensive training to handle a range of challenging aquatic situations.”

The initiative also aims to collaborate with local disaster management authorities and law enforcement to provide support in operations involving submerged vehicles, drowning incidents, and underwater inspections.
