Parys cyclists at the top of their game

They cyclists earned several podium positions.

Six cyclists of Parys Multisport represented the Free State Province at the 2026 Combined Provincial Road and Time Trial Championships, presented by Cycling SA in Heidelberg over the weekend of January 17-18.

Riko Vorster (U17) finished third in the Free State competition and 11th overall in the 75.2km road race. He also competed in the 18.79km time trial event, where he finished second in the Free State competition, and third overall.

Jannes Koekemoer competed in the U23 category for the first time, completing the 188km road race and finishing second in the province, and a ninth overall position.

Hardus Engelbrecht (55-59) competed in the 18.79km time trial and the 131.6km road race, finishing first on the podium for both competitions.

Charl Kruger (55-59) finished second in the provincial time trial competition, while Dawie Bornman (65-69) took first place on the provincial podium.

National track cyclist André Joubert (70+) earned himself a gold medal on the Free State time trial podium, and ninth position in the overall competition.
