It was a landmark day for Potchefstroom’s Shadrack Khali at the 2026 Comrades Marathon last month as he completed his 10th race to earn the prestigious permanent Green Number.
Khali (61), who is a gardener by profession, is well known in local running circles. Numerous Potchefstroom residents have, over the years, helped him achieve his dream through sponsorships and other forms of assistance.
He started his Comrades journey in 2014, finishing in a blistering time of 8:56:00, which earned him his one and only Bill Rowan medal.
He has four Bronze medals, three Robert Mtshali medals, as well as two Vic Clapham medals in his collection.
