Potch Central hockey stars fly NW flag at U13 Interprovincials

Current Potchefstroom Central learners MJ Makatani, Atli Mongale and Rea Mabaso proudly wore the green and red of North West against the country’s top young hockey talent.

Potchefstroom Central School’s reputation as one of top primary schools in boys’ hockey was solidified recently when three current and one former learner excelled while representing North West at the recent U13 Interprovincial Tournament (IPT) in Johannesburg.

Current Potchefstroom Central learners MJ Makatani, Atli Mongale and Rea Mabaso proudly wore the green and red of North West against the country’s top young hockey talent. Mongale also carried the added responsibility of serving as the team’s vice-captain, underlining his leadership qualities both on and off the field.

Former Potchefstroom Central learner Khanyo Chabe, who now lives in Johannesburg, enjoyed an outstanding tournament and walked away with two of the competition’s highest individual honours. Chabe was named Player of the Tournament as well as Defender of the Tournament, recognising his exceptional performances throughout the week.

“Their success on the provincial stage serves as an inspiration to the school’s aspiring hockey players and is another proud chapter in the school’s growing hockey legacy,” stated Potchefstroom Central School.
