Four NWU players formed part of the recent SA u.21 national team training camp held from 22-26 February at the University of Stellenbosch.

Sunel Smit, Favour Umeh, Jade Egwatu and Sanmarie Visser are the four NWU players who participated in this training camp. The newly appointed Proteas women’s netball coach, Jenny van Dyk, facilitated the training camp. This forms part of the preparations for the SA u.21 team who will be playing in the Netball World Youth Cup Africa Qualifiers that will take place in Pretoria from 18-23 March.

“We will use this training camp to test the fitness levels of the players, work on our connection and combinations and set out the game plan. We will also play some practice matches against the Southern Stings, Western Cape Tornados as well as some male teams. This camp will prepare the players to perform at their best when we hit the court in March for the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 Qualifiers at the University of Pretoria,” stated Van Dyk.

The selected players for the training camp are: Giada Prinsloo, Sunel Smit, Jade Egwatu, Favour Umeh, Phophi Nematangari, Sanmari Visser, Zané Bodenstein, Kyla Dames, Reratilwe Letsoalo, Karla Victor, Maria du Raan, Lisa Ingwersen, Renezia Andrews, Jade Atkins, Olukemi Amarachi Agbai and Syntiche Kabuya.
