Ferdies Got Talent gets creative

"The night was, as usual, a great success," Mrs Carin Roux stated.

Ferdinand Postma High School hosted their “Ferdies Got Talent” on Wednesday, 10 April 2024. The learners had an opportunity to showcase any talent they had to an audience, all for a prize. The Ferdies Pulse Committee; the SRC members of Ferdies who organise cultural events for the learners, organised the “Ferdies Got Talent” initiative.

As usual, the night was a success, with the programme consisting of instrumental music, singing, prose and poetry, and a dance section. The Ferdies’ choir performed at the talent event under the guidance of Ms Netanja Brink. Armand Potgieter, a musician and Gr. 11 learner, won the instrumental section with his piano skills. Mrs Carin Roux, a teacher at Ferdies, commented that Armand’s audience connection and charm helped him along. Shania Stewart, a Gr. 11 learner, won the prose and poetry section. She has a knack for accents, and there is no accent she cannot do.

El’Ad Fransman, a dancer and Gr. 12 learner, won the dance section with his skill, pace and ability to wow a crowd. Mrs Roux commented that his performance was nothing short of “Wow!” and that he placed second overall in the talent competition. Catherine Marais, a Gr. 12 homeschooled learner, singer, songwriter and guitarist, won the singing section and the talent competition overall. Mrs Roux commented that Catherine was incredibly talented and impressive. “This event was one for the books,” Mrs Roux remarked. “Ferdies knows how to sing, dance, speak and certainly shout and support!”
