Attempted murder of resort owner case postponed
The trio allegedly displayed aggressive behaviour, assaulted Hanscombe, and stabbed him multiple times.
A case of attempted murder against three men was postponed to 24 February in Orkney magistrate court to allow for further investigation.
According to Sivenathi Gunya, National prosecuting authority communications officer, the three men were granted bail ranging from R1,000 to R1,500 each. The charges arise from an incident on 16 December 2024 at a day resort in Orkney.
Hanyane Ronauld Mei (47), Danile Nxamakele (35), and Pitso Radebe (47), were charged after an altercation at a resort on Orkney.
“According to police reports, the accused were smoking a “hubbly bubbly,” an activity prohibited on the resort’s premises. Attempts by staff to stop them were unsuccessful, and the resort owner, Mark Hanscombe (53), was called to intervene. The trio allegedly displayed aggressive behaviour, assaulted Hanscombe, and stabbed him multiple times. Hanscombe was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment. The accused surrendered to the police on 24 December 2024, and were subsequently charged with attempted murder,” said Gunya in a statement.
Bail conditions include reporting to the Jouberton Police Station between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM daily and refraining from interfering with witnesses or the complainant until the case is finalised.
