Second NWU student dies within the week

Emergency services took her to a local hospital.

Another NWU student has passed away this week. This comes just two days after the passing of Chrizaan Agenbach (20) who died in her sleep on Monday evening,  March 24.

Vimbai Marewo (22) died on Wednesday, 26 March after collapsing on the NWU’s Potchefstroom campus. She obtained her first degree in financial accounting on Tuesday.

The financial accounting honors student reportedly collapsed after attending a friend’s graduation ceremony. Emergency services took her to a local hospital. The cause of her death is not yet known.

Vimbai’s father, Dr. Gerald Marwo, is a senior lecturer in applied mathematics at the NWU.

Louis Jacobs, NWU spokesperson, says Vimbai collapsed on campus on Wednesday. It is uncertain whether she was still alive when she arrived at the hospital.
