NWU student found after reported disappearance

The university is aware of the incident, but stated that it is a police matter.

A female student from North-West University (NWU), who was reported missing on the evening of June 15, has been found and is receiving the necessary support.

The student, allegedly went missing at 19:00 while on her way to the Bult area. Her disappearance sparked concern among the student community after a post about her circulated widely on social media.

When contacted, NWU spokesperson Louis Jacobs confirmed that the university is aware of the incident, but stated that it is a police matter.

“This is being handled by SAPS, so the university will not be issuing an official statement at this time.”

Captain Mpho Manyoba of the Potchefstroom SAPS acknowledged the enquiry and stated that investigations continue.
