Promosa Primary drives awareness campaign
Learners had the chance to turn recycled material into something beautiful.
On October 20, a lively, community‑driven awareness campaign, “Keep Pride, Keep Clean,” by Nthabiseng “Moxie” Mokgethi, in collaboration with Promosa Community Arts centre, lit up Promosa Primary School, blending faith, cleaning advice, messages, and the arts to raise awareness of a cleaner school environment.
During the special assembly, Mrs. Pearl, the former Principal from Kimberley, opened with a Bible passage read and faithful messages, followed by a welcome from the Promosa Primary principal Mr. Marais. Nthabiseng Mokgethi, the project director, introduced the initiative, explaining why she launched it and then guided the programme. She invited a dynamic speaker to share awareness messages.
The highlights were learner‑curated praise poem celebrating environmental cleanliness, while visual‑art learners turned recycled material into eye‑catching pencil holders, pot plants, robots and a striking dress to showcase the importance of recycling and reusing.

The programme continued with a spiritual dance and an Amapiano performance by the Promosa Community Arts Centre dance crew, and Blue Ribbon’ gift of Squares Waya Waya to the pupils. The campaign concluded by volunteers teaming up to clean the school.
“We bringing this kind of Awareness to the schools to ensure a safe and clean environment for learners to understand what can be produced through recyclable materials,” Natasja Barends said.
“Seeing the kids transform waste into robots, a dress, and a powerful poem shows how art can drive real change. Experiencing the success of the campaign, is fulfilling,” Nthabiseng Mokgethi said.
The “Keep Pride, Keep Clean” campaign aims to spark a lasting pride in a cleaner community, using the momentum of to inspire similar initiatives in schools and neighbourhoods across the region.
