According to WO Ishmael Mohutsiwa, the pathologist was on his way to store a corpse at a government mortuary when he saw a man suspiciously carrying something wrapped in a blanket on Saturday morning. He immediately stopped the vehicle and approached the man, requesting him to open the blanket. The response revealed a stolen big screen plasma television.

The observant pathologist apprehended the suspect, put him in the back of the vehicle with the corpse and took him to the Ikageng police station for further questioning. Mohutsiwa says the suspect was arrested on the spot and, after further investigation, it was discovered that he had been granted bail of R500 for housebreaking and theft on Friday.
