An argument between a couple over a key recently led to the boyfriend allegedly setting alight their shack in Ext. 11.

According to the Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, Const. Kelebogile Trom, the 25-year-old girlfriend reported that everything was peaceful when she left her boyfriend and her father in the shack and left for Sarafina. The two joined her later in the evening. Trom says it all turned sour when the couple had an argument over the key to the shack. The enraged boyfriend told her, “we will meet in heaven”, before storming out of the house. Later that night, she received a call from her aunt informing her that their shack had burnt down. “The police picked her up at Sarafina and took her to the structure that had been razed to the ground. The woman estimates that she has lost belongings to the value of around R28 300.
“A case of arson has been opened at the police station,” Trom said.
