The JB Marks name change has turned into a bunfight between political parties.

After the nomination process was concluded, Tlokwe was the name that most people within the community nominated. At today’s (6 June) special council meeting, however, a decision was taken to adopt the JB Marks name for the amalgamated municipality. The ANC and EFF voted together to form a quorum after the DA, VF+ and independents walked out of the meeting.

The community has 14 days to give comment on the new name. Read this week’s Herald for all the relevant information on how to submit your comments.
