The surge in burglaries this year in Ikageng has given rise to house robberies, while the owners of the house are inside the house.

According to Sgt. Kelebogile Trom, on Monday at about 20:55, two armed men tied up a 30-year-old man and his cousin, thereafter, robbed them of their valuables.
‘Both men were in a shack watching TV when two armed men entered and pointed at them with firearms. They instructed them to lie down on the floor and tied the 30-year-old man’s hands with an electric cable and his legs with socks. They then proceeded to tie his cousin’s hands with a cellphone charger and his legs with socks,’ said Trom.
Trom further stated that the men then hit the man on the head with a firearm and also assaulted the cousin. ‘They took about R1800 in cash, a driver’s license, a bank card, and cellphones valued at about R2500,’ reported Trom.
Trom said the suspects knew the victim and where he worked. ‘Both suspects have not been arrested,’ said Trom.
