Ten days after the 16 Days of Activism against woman and child abuse, a J.B. Marks ward councillor, Rufane Makousa, is alleged to have assaulted his wife.

According to Col Adéle Myburgh, the NW SAPS media relations head, the case under investigation is the contravention of a domestic violence interdict. ‘The alleged incident took place in Promosa at about 21:20 on 20 December 2018. The complainant (wife) was allegedly at home when the suspect (husband) assaulted her. He was charged and appeared in court on 24 December. His next court appearance is on 19 January.’

Makousa says his lawyer has advised him not to comment on the allegations.
