Relative stabs and rapes woman in front of her son

A man allegedly assaulted and raped a relative in front of her six-year-old son in Ext. 11 last Friday.

A man allegedly assaulted and raped a relative in front of her six-year-old son in Ext. 11 last Friday.

The spokesperson of the police, Sgt Kelebogile Trom explained how the events unfolded.

“The two adults were drinking home-brewed beer together. When they had finished, the 43-year-old woman prepared to go to bed with her son and told the relative to sleep in another room. Suddenly, he grabbed her and pulled her back, saying he wanted to sleep with her.

“The woman reminded him that they were related and refused. He then became angry and slapped her in front of her son. In the scuffle that ensued, the woman fell and felt her attacker stabbed her in the back with a sharp object. When the boy saw the blood, he started screaming and crying. The perpetrator told him to keep quiet.

“The victim said she needed the toilet and, on her way back, she managed to open the door. As she was trying to unlock the security gate, however, he grabbed her by the neck. He throttled her, ripped her clothes off and proceeded to rape her. He carried on violating her until the early morning and left,” reported Trom.

She says the police are investigating a rape case but the suspect is yet to be arrested.
