The Ikageng police have made quick arrests in a carjacking case last Sunday, 7 April, after arresting two suspects (both 27) in Greenfield two days later on Tuesday morning.
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, an intelligence-driven operation of Ikageng officers and the K9 unit led to the arrest of a male suspect.
“He later exposed his accomplice, who was also arrested. The third suspect is still on the run. The pair appeared in court last Thursday,” said Trom.
She says the three suspects were accused of highjacking a 44-year-old man’s taxi at about 01:35 on Sunday, 7 April.
“The victim alleged that he left his taxi idling while waiting for his girlfriend outside a tavern in Baipei Promosa on Sunday morning. Three unknown males approached him, all carrying knives. They grabbed him and pulled him to the ground, kicking him in the body and face. They climbed into his taxi and drove through a fence in Baipei.
“The victim, who was bleeding from his mouth, found his taxi abandoned in Baipei with a damaged bumper,” said Trom.
