Potch’s own racks up another 1st round win

Potchefstroomers were done proud once again by their very own professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.

Potchefstroomers were done proud once again by their very own professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.
Roevan de Beer took on Hishaam Kamish at EFC 79. He took the fight to the ground early and was able to win via submission in the first round.
“When he kicked me, that was my trigger to shoot for the takedown,” said De Beer after the fight.
Kamish held his own against de Beer on the ground, almost getting two submissions.
“I just decided that he would have to break my arms to win,” he added with a smile.

Luckily, his superior grappling skills saw him escape both submissions before landing one of his own.
This was the second win on the trot for De Beer – another first-round victory.
On the Monday morning after the fight, De Beer was back at his gym, CGA, in Baillie Park, to help prepare some of his amateur fighters for their upcoming contests.
According to him, he will also be helping another gym in Potchefstroom, Warrior Sports, with their grappling and MMA preparation.
A group of fighters from CGA are set to participate in the Klerksdorp Fight Night on 1 June.
