Elderly man found dead in Matlwang

A 69-year-old man was found dead in Matlwang village at about 16:00 on Sunday.

“One of the community members told the police that his wife had noticed that the elderly man’s door was not properly closed. When another neighbour went to investigate, he decided to break the padlock to get in. He found the man lying on his back on the bed and called the police,” said Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson.

“When the police entered the room, the deceased was in his clothes and there was blood where he was lying. A packet of crushed chillies and three small stones on his chest. There was a packet of tomatoes above his head,” she said.

The police are still investigating an inquest case into what had led to the death of the elderly man.
