Water from the Sonderwater reservoir will be shutdown, starting tomorrow evening.
According to Willie Maphosa, the municipal spokesperson, the Sonderwater reservoir has not been properly filled up ever since it was repaired a few months after it was vandalized.
“The problem has been that because of its high-lying location, a lot of water is being diverted from the feeder pipes to households situated at the low-lying areas, before the reservoir is actually filled up,” says Maphosa.
The most affected area will be Ikageng Extension 7, including the Keotshepile Primary School.
In order to remedy this persistent problem the department of technical services are planning an urgent shut down in the targeted areas, in order to fill the reservoir quickly.
The following targeted areas will be affected according to the following date and time schedule:
- Extensions 11, 3, 13, Sonderwater, on October 31, from 21H00 until 04H00
- Mohadin and Extension 7 on November 4, 2019 from 21H00 until 04H00
- Extension 11, 13, Sonderwater, on November 7, 2019 from 21H00 until 04H00
Should the level of reservoir not improve, another water shutdown schedule may be implemented. However, the community will be kept updated.
The Municipality regrets the inconvenience caused but is doing its best to bring the situation back to normal as soon as is possible.
