Ikageng’s Ikamva and Coca-cola celebrate matric results

On Saturday, IkamvaYouth Ikageng branch, together with Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) hosted their annual event – the Class of 2020 Matric Open Day and a celebration of the Class of 2019 matric results.

On Saturday (25 January), IkamvaYouth Ikageng branch, together with Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) hosted their annual event – the Class of 2020 Matric Open Day and a celebration of the Class of 2019 matric results.

IkamvaYouth is a township-based volunteer programme to remove learners from poverty through education.

For 2019, the learners managed to obtain the highest number of distinctions for the branch. They achieved a total of 11 distinctions combined, from Mathematics, Technical Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

Caroline Nyahuye, the Coca-Cola communications specialist of Maria Sikaubdi (Ikamva Youth Gauteng branch and North-West district manager,) said the amazing results show the commitment of making a positive impact on the lives of their learners is paying off.

In a statement, Caroline says Ikamva-Youth wishes to alleviate poverty and inequality and bring about overall positive change. “IkamvaYouth has achieved an 86 per cent matric pass rate nationally, with 74 per cent of the learners eligible for tertiary education. The Ikamva Ikgageng branch has done very well with their Class of 2019 matrics, achieving a 98 per cent pass rate,” she says.

In partnership with IkamvaYouth in at least five provinces, CCBSA proudly assists in offering youth of less advantaged areas a brighter future.

Caroline says they support the programmes of the organisation and help by facilitating. “Our branches continue to provide consistent, stable, safe spaces for learners to facilitate this.”

During the celebrations of the Class of 2019 matric results, there were also sessions for the Class of 2020.

Several stakeholders shared words of encouragement and motivation for the Class of 2020. Attendees also signed a pledge against the abuse of women and children.
