The Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality (DRKKDM) launched the District Cleaning Campaign on Monday (3 February) at the Ikageng Memorial Park in Potchefstroom.
The Executive Mayor of DRKKDM, Alderman Barei Mosiane-Segotso led the launch.
According to a statement from the district municipality the Cleaning Campaign is associated with the Green Good Deeds Campaign that stipulates that people from across the country, engage in ‘clean-up of a massive nature’, in their respective areas.
According to Xolani Mndaweni, the spokesperson at DRKKDM, the Cleaning Campaign’s objectives are to change people’s behaviour towards the 4Rs – Reduce, Re-use, Recycle and Recovering, and to also raise awareness pertaining to it.
During this campaign, the executive mayor of the district will also make her contribution. She will assist by cutting overgrown shrubs, planting trees and by also installing dustbins in recreational areas.
