A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was killed this morning (13 August) after being struck by a taxi on the N12 approximately 5km outside of Potchefstroom.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics arrived on the scene at 07h55 to find the taxi parked on the side of the road.

“The body of a woman in her 40s was found lying in front of the vehicle. Medics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for her, and she was declared dead,” said Meiring.

The driver of the taxi was not injured.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
