Promosa road users frustrated with its poor condition

Many have taken their frustrations to social media platforms about the condition of the Promosa road.

For months, many have complained about the condition of the Promosa road and taken their frustrations to social media platforms. However, it remains a problem for road users.

Glenville Fransman, a DA councillor, says the condition of the road has been a problem for over a year and, as a road user, he adds that it is a grave concern. Several accidents have occurred on this road. “It’s unacceptable, to say the least, that tax- and rate-paying residents of Promosa, Ikageng and Mohadin must endure these terrible roads daily while going to, or coming from work or town,” he said.

Ra’eesah Haffejee from Mohadin said the condition of the road was an inconvenience; it had negatively affected her vehicle and sanity. It had also damaged her car’s tyres and shock absorbers. When using the road, she has to focus on driving on the decent parts of the road, while being alert for drivers who might overtake under dangerous circumstances.

She says the condition of the road had only got worse as the months have gone by. As a result, it has slowed the traffic flow down and increased the potential for accidents. “I don’t feel comfortable, happy or safe travelling on this road every day,” she said.

Benjamin Philips from Promosa used to use this road regularly but, due to its condition, he now takes detours, like the Dassierand or Mohadin-Sonderwater roads. He says he has had to replace the shock absorbers of his car because of the Promosa road.

The Herald asked the municipality for comment but had not received a response by the time of going to print.
