The new administrator appointed at JB Marks

Adv. Dineo Mongwaketse is the new Administrator of JB Marks municipality.

Potchefstroom residents held their breath when a WhatsApp message in March announced that Tupi Mokhatla, then administrator, was resigning. The message read: “The current administrator has silently and quietly informed people in Potchefstroom that he will be leaving…and will be working as HOD in agriculture.”

When the Herald inquired about the departure in March, there was no response from the municipality’s media office, but they are now willing to confirm that Mokhatla resigned on 14 April after he was appointed as head of the provincial agriculture department. Since then, Adv. Dineo Mongwaketse has been appointed as J.B. Marks’s new administrator.

According to William Maphosa, the municipal spokesperson, Mongwaketse holds a national diploma and B Tech in internal audit and a master’s degree in business administration. She also holds an LLB degree and is an admitted advocate at the bar. She has worked as the chief audit executive at the Ngake Modiri Molema and Dr Ruth Mogotsi district municipalities respectively. Mongwaketse operates under the same terms of reference as in Mokhatla’s tenure.
