Three horses dead; man in hospital following collision

A white Nissan Bakkie collided with three horses on the Ventersdorp road at approximately 06:00 Monday morning (21 June).  The vehicle was travelling Ventersdorp when the accident occurred approximately 4 km from Potchefstroom.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson, paramedics responded to a collision on the R53 outside of Ventersdorp . On arrival a man was lying trapped inside his vehicle in a serious condition.  The man was extricated by the Provincial Services and transported to Mediclinic for further care. According to the Mediclinic spokesperson Diana King, the man is currently in a stable condition. Unfortunately, the three horses the vehicle struck succumbed to their injuries on the scene.
