It’s not every day you’ll see an ostrich roaming around in your town. Now imagine seeing an entire 80 on the run!

More than 80 ostriches ran through the streets of a Chinese town after a farmworker failed to properly close a gate, several outlets reported.

According to CGTN, the farm the ostriches escaped from has raised over 300 of birds. The farmer was able to get most of the birds back with the help of local police, CNN reported.

The birds dodged electricity masts and other obstacles in unison as they ran through the southern city of Chongzeo at speeds of up to 72 kilometres per hour. There was little traffic to threaten their safety on Saturday night, the state-run broadcaster CGTN reported.

Thankfully, with the help of the police, most of the ostriches have been safely returned. Nobody was injured during the incident.

The ostrich is the world’s largest bird and can grow to be as tall as 2,7 meters. The bird can cover as much as 5 meters in just one stride and can go as fast as 70 km  an hour, according to National Geographic.
