Fraudster involved in motor accident in Walter Sisulu lane after attempting to evade police arrest

When the vehicles stopped near the police station she tried to flee, a police vehicle blocked her vehicle and she collided with the CSS Security vehicle.

Potchefstroom Police and CSS Security managed to apprehend a fleeing suspect after blocking off the motor vehicle in Walter Sisulu Lane, this past Wednesday afternoon (2 February).

According to SAPS NW spokesperson, Col. Amanda Funani, the suspect, Ms. Palesa Moloi (32), tried to evade police at Potchefstroom Police station, but only managed to collide with a CSS Security Vehicle who assisted police in escorting Moloi.

The motor vehicle accident took place at the traffic light near Potch Towers.

“Potchefstroom Police received a call from Parys Police to be on the look out for the suspect’s vehicle. She was charged for fraud in Parys and ran away. Potch Police spotted the suspect’s vehicle at the traffic lights next to Mooiriver Mall and stopped the driver,” stated Funani.

Police instructed the suspect to follow them to the police station closely followed by CSS Security. “When the vehicles stopped near the police station she tried to flee, a police vehicle blocked her vehicle and she collided with the CSS vehicle,” said Funani.

CSS Security confirmed that the driver of the security vehicle was treated on the scene and only suffered minor injuries.

Moloi was arrested and charged with reckless driving and failure to comply with a police officer’s order.

She appeared at the Potchefstroom Magistrates Court on Friday, 4 February for her first court appearance, which was postponed until Tuesday, 8 February for bail application.
