The Athletes in Need organisation, together with the local Department of Social Development and locally-based NGOs, held an information session on Wednesday, 17 August. The programme educated community members on completing grant funding application forms and outlined the relevant compliance documents.
The organisation’s spokesperson, Tshohana Mokhothu, led the information session.
The programme serves as one of the six main pillars of the organisation: the entrepreneurial skills development programme to advance the interests of unemployed youth, women, athletes and people with disability.
“As an organisation that is actively involved in community projects, we have been approached by countless community members asking for guidance in terms of applying for grants to develop their respective organisations,” the chairperson of AIN, Busang Molekane, explained.
“We have also come across organisations that have been operating for over ten years but have never been funded before.
These two reasons propelled us to conduct information sessions for the community,” Molekane concluded.
