The Prof KP Mokhobo Foundation launched its first Annual Lecture at the Madiba Banquet Hall on Saturday, 27 August with Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma as the Keynote speaker.
The aim of the lecture was to benefit deserving underprivileged students wanting to pursue a career in medicine.
Having been born into poverty, it is Prof K.P Mokhobo and his foundation’s desire to motivate and encourage the underprivileged to study and pursue a career in medicine.
Among other guest speakers were the Mayor of the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Nikiwe Num, Minister Pinki Moloi as well as Councillors and senior government representatives who all honoured Prof. Mokhobo for the magnificent work he has done throughout his life.

The hope of the board was that this charitable activity would appeal to those with a passion for finding ways to give back and to reach out to those who are disadvantaged with love and compassion.
In Mokhobo’s book entitled “From Nowhere to Somewhere: Uncharted Destiny” he notes that his success and victories were due to unanticipated help, a testament to the inherent goodness of people.
Prof Kubedi Patrick Mokhobo is a distinguished scholar in medicine and a respected fellow of the College of Physicians who went on to become a Cardiologist. He is the mastermind of different projects in the medical field including the Cuba medical study programme.
90 years ago, Mokhobo was born and throughout his life, he has risen to influence our country. This is remarkable because he was born and raised at a time when an African child was doomed to a life of servitude. At the time entry to any university for an African child was near impossible, let alone a medical school at that. However, his hard work and academic abilities placed him at the top of the class and he hopes that his foundation will allow others the same opportunities.
